Stripe and Shopify Payments want a physical address. Keep it identical everywhere.

Answers for store owners setting up a US company, payments and a business address from abroad.
Not always. Many stores start as individuals. For founders outside the US, though, a US LLC is usually what lets you apply to Stripe, PayPal US and Shopify Payments in the US as a US business, and it keeps the store's contracts, payouts and mail under the company's name instead of yours. Whether an LLC is right for your tax situation depends on where you live, so check with a tax adviser in your country.
Stripe accepts US-registered businesses, including those with non-US owners. It asks for the company's EIN, the address of the physical location where most of the business happens (PO boxes are not accepted) and details of the people behind the account. A non-US owner or representative without an SSN or ITIN can give their local tax ID instead. Stripe reviews every account and makes its own decision.
Shopify Payments in the US is for US businesses. With a US LLC you'll need an EIN whose name matches the IRS record exactly, a business address that isn't a PO box or private mailbox, and a US checking account in USD that accepts ACH transfers. Savings, multi-currency and money-transfer accounts aren't accepted. Non-US owners can give a passport instead of an SSN or ITIN. If you're not eligible, Shopify lets you add a third-party payment provider.
Use a physical street address where your business operates, the same one on every application. Registate's lease address is a Delaware commercial address backed by a signed lease agreement, which you can use as your business address and show as proof of address. Don't use a PO box, a private mailbox (PMB) or your registered agent's address for this field.
USPS flags mailbox addresses (commercial mail receiving agencies), and automated verification checks read that flag. Shopify Payments names private mailboxes as not accepted, and Stripe no longer accepts mailbox or registered agent addresses as a physical presence for some of its products. A mailbox is still the right place for your letters; it just shouldn't be the address you give as your place of business.
Usually not. A registered agent address is for legal and state notices only. Banks and payment platforms know that and typically don't accept it as your principal place of business for verification.
Shopify's terms ask stores to show contact details including a physical business address, and your refund policy should say where returns go. Using your lease address on the contact page keeps it consistent with your payment processor. For marketing emails, the FTC's CAN-SPAM rules accept a street address or a private mailbox registered with a commercial mail receiving agency, so your mailbox address works there.
To wherever your stock actually is: your warehouse, fulfillment partner or supplier, so returned items can be checked and restocked. Registate's mailbox can receive and forward packages, but it isn't a returns center, so don't publish it as your returns address for regular volume.
For Shopify Payments, yes: a US checking account in USD. Stripe and PayPal also pay out to a bank account in the business's name. Registate guides you through opening a US business account, and our lease documents cover the proof of address step banks ask for. If a bank says no, see why banks decline non-residents and what the alternatives are.
Marketplaces collect and, above certain sales levels, display seller contact details under the US INFORM Consumers Act and EU rules. Etsy shows a registered business's address to buyers in some cases when it differs from the owner's home address. Using your company's business address there keeps your home address out of those disclosures. Check Etsy's current seller info page for what's shown.
No. Each provider has its own criteria and makes its own decision. What we make sure of is that you apply with a real US company, an EIN and a lease-backed business address, with the same details on every document.
Once you sign up and provide your company details, the lease agreement is typically generated and signed within 24-48 hours and sent to you by email.
